Six Flags Great Adventure topped off its newest ride today – Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom – which will lift riders 41 stories into the air before bringing them straight back to earth at 90 mph.The ride, expected to be ready for Memorial Day weekend, is the newest addition to the Jackson amusement park and has been built as an attachment to the 45-story Kingda Ka ride, a news release from park officials said.Zumanjaro, which is twice the height of the Statue of Liberty, is the tallest drop ride in the world, the park said. Riders will pause for a moment at the top before it plunges the 41-story stretch in less than 10 seconds, the park said.It will include three towers for gondolas that each carry eight riders, park officials have said. This afternoon, ironworkers from Shamrock Construction placed the last piece of steel atop the tower, the park said. Now that the structure has been topped off, workers will install the lift mechanism, the gondolas and ride controls, park officials said. Then Zumanjaro will go through a series of testing, inspections and certifications before it is opened to the public, they said. The park is scheduled to open Saturday, April 12, about 1½ months ahead of Zumanjaro.
So I have to ask, do they need to time this ride with Ka's launches? It's just.. I don't know. Having a train zoom by you 10 feet away seems terrifying
