amazing idea for coasters!
« on: April 29, 2006, 03:18:41 PM »
I came up with a AMAZING idea; listen to music on the coaster!!!!

I've never seen this done, and I apologize if this has already been discussed, but imagine: we can used sealed, in-ear, headphones and listen to a high-energy song for the ULTIMATE RUSH.

I'm definately going to try this in coasters after dark!

Heads up though as I believe it's illegal to use electronic devices on a coaster!

I doubt it is illegal, but it is probably against park policy. I have seen people do it though...

If it is against park policy, and you break those rules, you are breaking NJ State Law.

Quote
State Law[/u]
State Law requires that each rider obey all written
warnings and directions regarding the ride
and
refrain from behaving in a reckless manner, which
may cause or contribute to injuries to the rider or
others. Failure to comply is a violation of the law and
subject to penalty.
State Law states that a rider should not
board or attempt to board any amusement ride if
he /she is under the influence of alcoholic beverages
or any substance which affects the riders?
ability to use the ride safely and to abide by the
posted instructions.

hmm.. I had no idea. Though, I don't know how I could be hurting myself with the wire under my shirt/sweater, and my ipod tucked away in my pocket.. and i'm sure that if a ride op saw me with the headphones on, he/she wouldn't say anything... I'm not one to break the law, but if its not harming anyone...

It's one of those cases where it opens up the "where is the line drawn".  If you simply go by the fact that it's attached to your body, so it's ok, then cameras become a big problem.  You could have someone with a camera strapped around their wrist, so it's "attached to the ir body".  Then they drop said camera and it injures another rider.  Now the park and that person may be at fault because of it.  Simple solution, allow nothing.

Go to MGM,  they have exactly what you are looking for and it's legal.

It's called Rock 'n' Roller Coaster

Features: 120 speakers in each 'Limo'   Five separate audio scores synchronized to the ride and played through a 32,000 watt audio system with over 900 speakers

I've been there.. it was great: good music, but if I were to design that ride, the music would be a different genre. Though they did do what they could to theme it.. and thats Disney.

I never started this thread to argue, just to express an idea, but I doubt that http://www.whitewind.ru/pictures/79764.jpg sony ex71's that are attached to my iPod with a wire that is under my shirt, where the iPod is zipped away in my pocket can hurt anybody an anyway.

And as long we're on the issue, what about glasses? Those could certainly fall off, and they're bigger than my earbuds. Even shoes. They're "strapped on" as well.

I believe if your glasses aren't strapped on that you are to remove them and store them.  Glasses are expensive anyway, so people don't act a fool with those.  Same with sneakers.  If people wear loose sneakers, they take them off because they don't/can't walk around barefoot all day.

It's not just the "loose article" issue, but when you are wearing headphones, you cannot hear instructions from the attendants.

My glasses have never fallen off (I don't strap them). I only take them off on Chiller and Ka. I don't think I would enjoy rides as much if there was no amazing view at the top of the 1st drop.

Stew, thats a good point, but I can wait until the ride starts to turn on the music...

You can always buy straps for your glasses.

Another simple Idea but costly, buy this along with a strap, or just sing to yourself on the coaster.
