News Update!
May 31, 2006

Williams Grove Amusement Park is no longer looking for a
management team. The Amusement Park sale will continue
forward till a sale is consummated with a qualified buyer."

^As quoted from my friend Jim's post on another site...

I wanted to get there last year and was really bummed they closed. This is great news as their version of Cyclone looks to be the SCARIEST ride experience ever, they have a POV video on TPR for your viewing pleasure as well.

MUST GET WILLIAMS GROVE CREDITS...  :D

Rob  :o

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news.

That announcement says the SALE will continue and they are no longer looking for a management team.  I have personally talked to the management and owner of the park this season.  The reason they are no longer for a team is that it is almost certainly too late to open the amusement park this season---picnics aren't booked, there is a great deal of work to be done, people to be hired, etc.  At first it was thought the park was ready to open for the season, but now that is no longer the case.

There are no plans to open the park, unless it is sold to a buyer who wants to open it.

And for the past day or so, the website isn't even loading.

I suspect that people were misunderstanding that page and contacting the raceway enough that it was taken down.

Or, it's just down momentarily (for a day, so far).

Plus, didn't the Wildcat all ready leave to Maryland ?  They also said they want to focus more on their bread and butter which is the speedway!

....looks for more links

Adventure Park USA in Maryland purchased Williams Grove's previously SBNO Wildcat. I don't have much detail about this but this is the 3rd time it's been relocated and it will be Adventure Park USA's first coaster. The Wildcat was ready for its 6th season when the park closed. The website says that it will operate this season if a new management team is found, but I highly doubt that with no rides except for the old Cyclone. The Wildcat was a Schwarzkopf 54-m Wildcat and when it opens it will be one of 4 operating 54-m Wildcats in the world. The website says nothing about the project but it is planned to open in '06.

May. 7th, 2006 -- Williams Grove Amusement Park in Mechanicsburg, Pa., won't be open for business season, but Williams Grove Speedway, located across the street from the amusement park, will remain open.

The decision to do only one operation came after the speedway demanded more from former park sales manager Sally Lou and her son, Justin Loh, who managed Williams Grove and currently manages the speedway.  After the recent closing of Silver Spring Speedway, more business was brought to Williams Grove Speedway, and with more to manage, Loh reported that it would be too difficult to keep both parks open.

I Will now call the park and ask about their website saying it will be open?.....

Hi, will the park open this summer ?

answer..
THE PARK IS CLOSED, SORRY

Well, I still have my 2 credits!
